Mombasa to be the centre of chess activity in April 2017

Mombasa Chess Club is getting ready to host the Mombasa International Open Chess Tournament from 19th to 22nd April 2017 and the Africa Zone 4.2 Under 16 Youth Team Championship from 15th April to 22nd April 2017.

The last major African event to take place in Kenya was in 1998 when we hosted the Africa Junior Chess Championship.

The guest of honour for this event will be former World Chess Champion GM Viswanathan Anand who will be visiting Kenya for the first time.
