Jackson Ndegwa Kamau wins 4th Capablanca Cup

Jackson Ndegwa Kamau emerged as the winner with a perfect score of 5/5 in the 4th Capablanca Cup Chess Championship held at the Braeburn School, Gitanga Road. He took home a cash prize of KES 8,000, a KES 6,000 Nakumatt voucher and a glittering trophy.

In second place was CM Ben Magana with 4.5 points, and he went home with KES 5,000, a KES 3,000 Nakumatt voucher and a trophy. 

Ramesh TWilly SimonsBrian TobosoKaran Christie and Geoffrey Mulaga all tied for joint third place with 4 points each. They each went home with KES1,500.

However, based on tie-breaks, Ramesh T was the 2nd runners up while Willy Simons was the 3rd runners up. Both Ramesh T and Willy Simons received trophies for their performance.

The hotly contested event saw 51 players battling for honours over the weekend of 21st and 22nd June 2014.

Peter GilruthKishen Iyengar and Ramesh T were the event’s sponsors, which was FIDE rated and organised by Nairobi Chess Club.
