2016 Baku Olympiad Qualifiers Ladies Section

We had provided a report on the 2016 Baku Olympiad Qualifiers Open Section a few days ago and promised to do one for the Ladies section as well.

The Ladies section had the top 10 players in a round robin to select the top 4 players who would join WCM Riya Shah in the Ladies Olympiad Team.

Competition was fierce but in the end it was the players who had the most international experience who prevailed.

Naiya Gosrani

An interesting player was 11 year old Naiya Gosrani from Peponi Preparatory School who was making her debut in an Olympiad Qualifiers.

Final standing for the Ladies with the top 4 going through to join WCM Riya Shah in the Olympiad Team.

In the 2014 Tromso Olympiad the Ladies team ended in 118th position out of 136 teams.    My guess is that this year’s team is much stronger and will post improved results in the 2016 Baku Olympiad.
