James Panchol of South Sudan last Saturday lifted his 3rd consecutive trophy when he cruised to a comfortable win with a perfect 5/5 during the 2nd Le Pelley Cup held on 21st January 2017 at the Goan Gymkhana Club, Nairobi.
James went home with a KES 5,000 (USD 50) gift voucher from Nakumatt for his efforts. In 2nd place was another South Sudan national Peter Diing who obtained 4.5/5 to go home with a KES 2,000 Nakumatt gift Voucher.
The top player U14 was Vyom Kunjal Shah with 3/5 and he won a KES 1,000 Nakumatt gift voucher.
This event attracted a total of 44 players which is held in honour of the late Mr Peter Le Pelley who was a chairman of Nairobi Chess Club. Mr Le Pelley was a keen chess player who took part in several chess events in his days.
