This coming weekend will see intense chess action when the Strathmore University Teams Rapid Chess Challenge gets underway.
This event is a joint venture between Strathmore University and Moto Chess Ventures which is owned by chess entrepreneur Paras Gudka.
A total of 8 teams have registered for the Open section which will see the mighty Equity Bank led by 2015 Kenya National Chess Champion Kenneth Omolo on Board 1. Brian Kidula CEO of Terrian Chess Academy will be Board 2, Peter Diing on Board 3 and Moses Andiwoh on Board 4.
Nairobi Chess Club have also registered with a formidable team led by Mehul Gohil, Peter Gilruth, James Panchol, Willy Simons and Dr Kevins Omondi and who have vowed to stop Equity Bank at all costs.
Anchor Chess Club have registered 3 teams for this event and have been sponsored by Kingsway Tyres and Kingsway Foundation which is a welcome development for Kenyan chess.
