Black Knights Chess Club opens it’s doors
The Black Knights Chess Club (BKCC) is one of the youngest clubs in Kenya participating in the 2017 Kenya National Chess League.
Anothony Kionga who is the current chairman of the club has prepared an article for this website.
Black Knights is a young and fast growing chess club in Kenya. Founded in August 2016 with the philosophy of promoting chess in Kenya through chess related activities and development of mental skills among young people, BK already boasts of a consistent 10 and above member participation during their club meetings.
The club is mostly made up of young people who are committed and passionate about chess and love spending their leisure time creatively. They mostly come from Nairobi and its environs.
A great place to play chess. BKCC is currently self-sponsored and working on registering officially with the relevant bodies. It has a good number of rated players and experienced players like Austin Walela and Moses Andiwoh who bless us with their presence once in a while to offer training and coaching.
In addition to bettering their own game, BKCC members plan to transfer this knowledge to the younger generation to bridge the gap between experienced older players and young beginners by offering training and practice sessions.
