Vishy Anand who was the World Champion from 2007 to 2013 is expected to be guest of honour during the forthcoming Africa U16 Zone 4.2 Chess Championship Games which will be held at the Wild Waters Complex in Mombasa from 15th to 22nd April 2017.  The Mombasa Open will also run from 19th to 22nd April 2017 at the same venue.

Two gala dinners have been organised which are  expected to be well attended by corporate magnates, chess players and members of the large chess loving South Indian community.

Not many chess players will know this fact.  The current Secretary General of Chess Kenya, John Mukabi played Viswanathan Anand during the 1988 Chess Olympiad in Thessaloniki, Greece!  We bring you a faded photo from the 2nd issue (December 1997) of the now defunct “KENCHESS” magazine .
