GM Pontus Carlsson lands in Nairobi


Swedish GM Pontus Carlsson arrived in Nairobi today afternoon  as part of the ongoing Chess Masters for Africa Tour #CMAT.

He was accompanied by Tereza Pribanova of Chess In Schools and Communities (CISC) UK.  CISC has sponsored 100 MiniChess learners in three schools at Mukuru slums.

The pair will visit the  schools tomorrow.   This program is  run by MiniChess Kenya in collaboration with the Sports Outreach Ministries.

Other chess masters who have visited Kenya as part of the Chess Masters for Africa Tour include GM Kenny Solomon (RSA) GM Kenny Solomon in Kenya.and IM Rodwell Makoto (ZIM) IM Rodwell Makoto visits Kenya.

Chess Masters for Africa Tour is sponsored by The Paul Allen Foundation in collaboration with the Kasparov Chess Foundation Africa. The program aims to impact 72 chess trainers and 1500 learners from six African countries namely: Rwanda, Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Kenya.
