Robert Katende arrives in Nairobi
Robert Katende arrived in Kenya today around 11.00 am, accompanied by Ivan Mutesasira, one of his long time chess student.
Ivan Mutesasira has represented Uganda in a tournament at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture &Technology.
This is Katende’s second time training event after the Level 1 seminar he facilitated in October 2015 in which a total of 32 teachers attended. This time he is training 26 teachers from Mukuru’s different schools in this Level 2 seminar scheduled for four days.
He is also expected to strengthen the Mukuru Chess Club by citing any possible avenues of donations to help support the initiative, before it can moved to other sites (a site has been identified in Kibera slum).
Alongside the training, he will also be sharing the vision, meeting and inspiring various children in the Chess Academy’s programs and discuss way forward regarding the forthcoming Mukuru Schools Junior Chess Championship 2nd edition, which will take place in July this year.
