Not sure how many of you will remember the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs?
Snow White’s step mother has a magic mirror in her room. Every morning she would stand in front of the mirror and ask “Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?” and mirror would respond to her question. You can read the rest of the story here – Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs.
One perennial question is “Who is the best blitz player in Kenya?”. We will hopefully have the answer sometime in July 2017 when 4 of the top blitz players in the country meet for a 4 round robin tournament.
The event is being organised by the CEO of Terrian Chess Academy Brian Kidula who successfully hosted the Mehul Gohil – Bryan Toboso match in late May 2017.
The event will see Joseph Methu who has been in scintillating form with his victories in the 7th Capablanca Cup and at the Unplug & Play Blitz Championship 1 which was held last weekend at the Alchemist Bar in Nairobi. Joseph Methu has been covered in this website earlier. See Joseph Methu – new kid on the block and Joseph Methu wins 7th Capablanca Cup.
Mehul Gohil has also been included in this event and is a well know speed demon. The key question will be will he have the stamina to last 18 games.
Githinji Hinga who has been in semi retirement is the dark horse of the event. He is currently ranked number 3 in Kenya at 2123. Githinji has an impressive CV with a number of events under his belt including the 2015, 2016 Nairobi Open and 3 times Daystar University Open titles.
The fourth participant is Ben Nguku who is the 2016 Kenya Open winner and a veteran of the 2004 Olympiad team.
Further details of the event will be announced in the coming few weeks.
Just before you finish there was a cartoon that I did for Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs! Hope this cartoon reminds you to do your tax return which is due by 30th June 2017.
