Don Bosco Chess Club Youth Chess Championship
Don Bosco Chess Club in Tanzania celebrates its first anniversary with a youth tournament. The event will take place on 24th June 2017 at New Africa Hotel located in downtown Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.
In Tanzania chess is starting to gain rapid traction amongst the youth. This has mainly arisen from the work of a small band of highly dedicated individuals.
We have featured many stories from Tanzania on this website and some of the recent one includes; IM Arthur Ssegwanyi wins 2016 Tanzania Open , Tanzania in the 2016 Baku Olympiad and IM Elijah Emojong wins 2015 Tanzania Open.
Poster of the event.The event is a six round event with four categories U8, U10, U12 and U16. Cleophas Charles is Don Bosco’s best player who will play a simultaneous match against the top 16 players who emerge from this event.
Cleophas Charles has been a great influence among his peers and this match will stimulate keen media interest.
The event has been proudly sponsored y Yash International (T) Ltd. Subsidiary support for this event has come from the Chairman of the Tanzania Chess Foundation Mr Vinay Chaudary.
Yash International (T) Ltd are a new sponsor. They have pledged to support this fledgling club with the aim of empowering the youths through chess.
