KCB Sports Club Junior Open Chess Championship

The action in the chess scene moves to the inaugural KCB Sports Club Junior Open Chess Championship 2017 which takes place on the Saturday, 15th July 2017 at the KCB Sports Club Ruaraka.

KCB Bank have been keen supporters of Kenyan chess over the past 30 years.  Their recent involvement has seen KCB Bank support the 2016 Kenya Open, the 2016 Olympiad Selection tournament and a partial sponsorship of the travel costs of the 2016 Olympiad team.

Tournament entry fee will be KES 1,000 per player. The 6 round event with a time control of 25 minutes per player using Swiss system pairing will see players compete for merit trophies, in the under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and18 age group categories. The schools and teams will also battle for the top 3 teams trophies based on their top 4 players.

This event will be a FIDE Rated Junior Rapid tournament and is expected to see junior players get their FIDE rating and stimulate interest in the game.
