GM Bassem wins 2017 Lake Sevan Tournament
GM Bassem of Egypt made Africa proud when he powered his way to victory at the 2017 Lake Sevan International Chess Tournament at Best Western Bohemian Resort Hotel in Sevan, Armenia. The event ran from 14th to 22nd of July 2017.
The event was a round robin of 10 players from Armenia, Latvia, Ukraine, Poland, Israel and Egypt. The average rating of this event was 2606 and the lowest rated player was 2517.
This event started a day after GM Amin Bassem was crowned 2017 African Individual Chess Champion in Oran, Algeria.
GM Amin Bassem scored 6.5 out of 9 (5 wins 3 draws and one loss which was his first loss after 80 classic chess games). This gave him a performance rating of just over 2765 ! I have presented one of the games below.
