James Panchol emerged winner in the 2nd Utwala Rapid Chess Tournament held last weekend which was held at Mavens Education & Chess Centre in Nairobi.
The event attracted 18 players including veteran Rodgers Adai and Martin Oyamo and several other strong players led by Joseph Methu and Martin Njoroge.
James Panchol won the event with 6/7 points to go home with KES 3,000 (USD 30). Joseph Methu was 2nd with 5.5 points to earn KES 1,500 while Martin Njoroge and Martin Oyamo tied with 5 points each to share KES 1,000.
The best junior player was Mark Alando.
