The Kenyan squad to the recently concluded 2017 African Schools Individuals Chess Championship have won a total of 6 medals (2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals). The event held in Harare, Zimbabwe attracted a total of 175 players from 10 African federations.
Janki Nipul Shah won a Gold in the Girls U7 and Devashri Shah won a Gold in the Girls U9 Group which was combined with U11. Reeyan Gosrani won a Silver in the Boys U11. Abinesh Sudalaimuthu (Boys U7 & U9), Jeff Gichuki (Boys U13) and Janvi Nipul Shah (Girls U7) each won a Bronze medal in their respective categories.
Kenya ended up 3rd in the medal standings. Botswana were the overall winners with 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 3 Bronze medals.
