Peter Gilruth – Trip to Chicago!
Peter Gilruth who is Kenya’s highest rated player was in the United States last month where he managed to find time to play in the 10th edition of the Chicago Class Chess Tournament.
The 5 round event ran from 14th to 16th July 2017 at the Westin North Shore Hotel, Wheeling, Illinois and which had 7 separate sections.
Master Section
Peter Gilruth played in the Master Section which had 5 Grand Masters and 2 International Master out of a total of 52 players.
Top ranked players included GM Fidel Corrales Jimenez at 2503 from USA, GM Nikola Mitkov 2466 and GM Vladimir Georgiev 2503 both from Macedonia, GM Ashwin Jayaram 2485 and GM Rajaram Laxman 2397 from India.
