The 2017 Zone 4.3 Youth Under-16 Team Chess Championships was held at the Residencial Kaya Kwanga, Maputo, Mozambique from Friday, 6th August, 2017 9th August, 2017.
Zone 4.3 comprises of Angola, Botswana, Comoros Islands, Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
A total of 4 teams took part in this inaugural event of which 3 were from Mozambique and 1 from Swaziland.
The winner of the event was the Mozambique ‘B’ Team which will receive a travel grant for the U16 Youth Olympiad which is due to be held in Ahmedabad, India from 10th to 20th December 2017.
The event was part of the FIDE calendar of events run by the African Chess Confederation.
