Kenyan chess players are looking forward to the 59th Nairobi Chess Club Championship that is due to be held on the weekend of 23rd & 24th September 2017 at the German School, along Limuru Road, Nairobi.
This iconic event is expected to attract some of the strongest players in Kenya and Uganda who will compete for a total cash prize fund of KES 50,000 (USD 500).
This year’s edition has strong Open section with only 16 slots available to players rated over 1800 and will have only 4 rounds. The time control is 2 hour which will allow players who are rated 2200 and above to play.
The winner of the Open will be crowned 59th Nairobi Chess Club Champion.
The defending champion Peter Gilruth has already confirmed that he will defend his title.
