Robert Katende of Uganda receives a Special Award

Robert Katende of Uganda was in the news last week when he received the Tigran Petrosian Medal-Special Trainers Achievement.

The ceremony took place during the 2nd day of the FIDE Executive Board meeting in Antalya, Turkey.

Robert Katende is the key character in the movie ‘Queen of Katwe‘.  He is also one of the most active chess promoter in Africa.
