A glittering closing ceremony at the KCB Club marked the end of the 2017 Kenya National Chess League which saw a record 20 teams battling for top honours.

The chief guest was visiting GM Pontus Carlsson of Sweden who presented prizes to the various winners.

Equity Bank proved that they were in a class of their own when they cruised to a comfortable win with 53 points out of a maximum of 60 points.  They remained undefeated with 18 wins and 2 draws against Anchor Chess Club and Nairobi Chess Academy & Club.
