    David Silva & Lina Nassr Crowned African Champions

    IM David Silva of Angola & WFM Lina Nassr of Algeria were crowned Africa Junior U20 Champions winners in their respective categories.

    The Africa Junior is the continent’s most prestigious event which ended with an exciting finish on 29th December 2017 in Lome, Togo.

    The 30th edition of this prestigious event ran from 22nd to 29th December 2017.  There were a total of 18 players in the Open Section from Algeria, Angola, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Nigeria, Togo & Tunisia.

    The Ladies Section had 10 players from 6 federations including Algeria, Angola, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Tunisia and Togo.

    IM David Silva grabbed an impressive draw against the top ranked player IM Adham Fawzy of Egypt.

    We present another game where WFM Lina Nassr defeats 3 times African Junior Champion WIM Esperanca Caxita of Angola.

    WFM Lina Nassr’s other important victories include gold medal at the 2015 African Youth Chess Championship.

    IM David Silva has now won this event 3 times having won it in 2014, 2015 and then in 2017.
