Kenyan chess continues to grow in leaps and bounds!

Black Knights Chess Club (BKCC) which was formed in August 2016 recently hosted their first FIDE rated event.  You can read about BKCC on the following link Black Knights Chess Club.

Black Knights Chess Club held its first edition of the Quickfire Blitz Tournament #1 on Sunday 4th of February 2018.

This was a FIDE rated blitz tournament of 10 rounds, Swiss System.  There were 3 categories including U1800, U1600 and Unrated.

Quickfire Blitz, which was held at Pointzero Coffee (Pointzero Coffee) ran from 2 pm to 6 pm and attracted a total of 16 players from various local clubs.

Pointzero Coffee is a charming coffee shop located at the Nairobi Gallery, next to Nyayo House.

The winner of the U1800 category was Joseph Maigua, who took home the cash prize of KES 2,000 (USD 20).  Joseph Kirega won a cash prize of KES 2,000 for winning the U1600 category. Kingori Kamau, scooped the Unrated category title and went home with KES 1,500.

The second edition of Quickfire Blitz Tournament, will be held on Sunday 4th of March 2018 from 2pm- 6pm at Pointzero Coffee.
