Round 4 – Kenya v Malta – Open Section

Team Kenya in round 4 seemed to be on the roll in in Batumi.

After defeating Ethiopia 2.5 to 1.5 in round 3, Kenya defeated Malta by a similar score in the next round.

Both CM Ben Magana & Dr Victor Ngani won their games while Philip Singe drew his to give Kenya victory.

An interesting fact about Malta.

Malta hosted the 24th Chess Olympiad which ran from 20th November to 6th December 1990.

The Kenyan ladies whitewashed Senegal with a clean 4-0 victory!

The Senegal Ladies Team were making their maiden Olympic appearance.  They have so far lost all their matches and have only 2 game points after 4 rounds.

Lucy Wanjiru led the way with a swift win in 17 moves.
