Africa Junior Chess Championship 2018
The Africa Junior Chess Championship is one of the continent’s most prestigious event.
This year, the 31st edition will be held in Entebbe, Uganda. The event will run from 28th December 2018 to 6th January 2019.
The venue for this event will be the Country Lake Resort Garunga.
IM David Silva of Angola and WIM Lina Nassr of Algeria are the defending champions.
Kenya at the Africa Junior Chess Championship
Kenya failed to send any players for the 2016 and the 2017 editions. The 2015 Africa Junior Championship held in Seychelles was the last edition that Kenya played in.
Moses Maina Wanjiru obtained 3.5 points out of 9 rounds to end up in 18th place out of 24 players.
WFM Joyce Nyaruai obtained 4.5 points out of 9 rounds to end up in 8th position out of 13 players.

The great thing about the African Junior Chess Championship is that Kenya has hosted this event not once or twice but three times! This was in 1992, 1993 and in 1998.
Kenya won a bronze medal in the 1990 event. Willam Arogo Juma was the proud winner of this bronze medal which is the only medal we have won in this event. Gaborone in Botswana was the city that hosted the event.

It has taken a fair amount of digging up but I am happy to present the following summary.
