State House – Chess Reloaded!

Chess featured prominently at State House, Nairobi recently!

Brian Kidula was once again the major driving force behind this initiative on 15th December 2018.  Brian Kidula who is affectionately known as ‘Local GM‘ is also the CEO of Terrian Chess Academy (TCA).

H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta hosted the Christmas party at State House.

The children were treated to live music, bouncing castles, virtual reality, arts and fun games.  One of the fun games was chess!

The President & First Lady also spent time mingling with the chess players which was a major boost for Kenyan chess.

The President was visibly impressed when he found out that he could watch the live games from the ongoing Kenya National Chess Championship which was going on at Parkland’s Sports Club.

This incidentally was not the first time that chess featured at State House.  It happened once again last year thanks to the efforts of Brian Kidula.

I guess this is what H.E President Kenyatta was thinking 'This game is as complicated as the Kenyan political scene'
