Solomon Lubega wins 2018 Kireka Open

The 3rd edition of Kireka Open took place between 27th December and 30th December 2018 at Sports View Hotel.

It consisted of the Open and Unrated category with a prize fund of over UGX 5 million (USD 1,400).  The Open section had just over 100 participants while the Unrated section had 38 players.

Solomon Lubega was the winner in the Open category after he scored a total of 7 points.  He edged out IM Elijah Emojong who also scored 7 points but had a lower tiebreak.  Each received UGX 850,000 (USD 240).

Okas Walter and Bibasa Bob were third and fourth position as there was also a tie with each scoring 6.5 points.  Each received UGX 375,000 (USD 110).

WFM Angolikin Goretti scored 5.5 points to win a prize of UGX 700,000 (USD 180).

FM Harold Wanyama won the brilliancy prize which had a cash prize of UGX 100,000 (USD 30).

Semanda Kevin won the Unrated category with 9 points out of 9 games.  He went home with UGX 100,000 (USD 30).
