All Africa Games Final Day 3

Akello Atwoli who had a brilliant start to the event lost two games in day 3.  His first loss was to Ben Nguku and then to Jackson KamauAkello now has 2.5 points out of 6 rounds and in 7th position.

Mehul Gohil of Nairobi Chess Club played well to hold the powerful Joseph Methu of KCB Club to a draw in round 5.

Ben Nguku of KCB Club in round 6 went on to defeat Mehul in a tough encounter.

Jackson Kamau is currently in the lead with 4.5 points out of 6 games.  Mehul Gohil is in second place with 4 points.  It is, however possible that there could be significant changes in the next four rounds.

Naiya Gosrani on fire!

The biggest news, however was when 14-year-old Naiya Gosrani defeated former Kenya National Champion WCM Joyce Nyaruai Naiya had in round 4 defeated current Gloria Jumba who is the current Kenya National Champion.  Naiya now has 3 points out of 6 games and currently in 5th place.  She will need to keep her cool to get her slot in the team.

Round 7 of the event continues from Friday 8th March through to 10th March 2019 at the Parklands Sports Club, Nairobi.
