Githinji Hinga wins TABAN 2
Githinji Hinga put up a stellar performance when he won the TABAN 2 event with an emphatic score of 6/6.
The KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka was the venue for the second edition of Taban Rapid Tournament on 31st March 2019.
Trojan Chess Club, Anchor Chess Club & Black Knights Chess Club were the joint organisers of the event. The tournament was a six-round event with an impressive prize fund of KES 45,000 (USD 450) with the winner receiving KES 12,000 (USD 120). 23rd February was the date of the first edition.
A total of sixty-seven players registered and participated in the tournament.
Mehul Gohil, Akello Atwoli, Michael Waliuba and George Ochieng were joint second with 5 points each.
Joseph Methu, the defending champion of the first edition of the Taban Rapid tournament ended up in 8th position with 4 points.
