Githinji Hinga wins TABAN 2

Githinji Hinga put up a stellar performance when he won the TABAN 2 event with an emphatic score of 6/6.

The KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka was the venue for the second edition of Taban Rapid Tournament on 31st March 2019.

Trojan Chess ClubAnchor Chess Club & Black Knights Chess Club were the joint organisers of the event. The tournament was a six-round event with an impressive prize fund of KES 45,000 (USD 450) with the winner receiving KES 12,000 (USD 120).  23rd February was the date of the first edition.

A total of sixty-seven players registered and participated in the tournament.

Mehul Gohil, Akello Atwoli, Michael Waliuba and George Ochieng were joint second with 5 points each.

Joseph Methu, the defending champion of the first edition of the Taban Rapid tournament ended up in 8th position with 4 points.

Victor Hongo of Black Knights Chess Club, David Gaithu of Trojan Warriors and James Kabui from Anchor Chess Club walked away with KES 2,000 each as the best players of their teams.
