Atwoli wins 1st Sunday Rapid

Joseph Atwoli won the 1st Sunday Rapid Tournament which was held on 7th April 2019.  The event attracted a total of 14 players.

He cruised to win the event with 5 points out of 6 rounds. His only loss came when he faced veteran Martin Oyamo in round 5.

James Panchol was second with 4.5 points, and Joseph Mehtu was third with 4 points.

The cash prize fund for the event was KES 25,000 (USD 250) with the winner taking KES 8,000 (USD).

Brian Kidula proved his mettle when he won the Blitz tournament at the end day with 8.5 points out of 9 rounds. Joseph Methu was second with 8 points and Githinji Hinga third with 7 points

Terrian Chess Academy & Githinji Hinga who were the organisers have pledged to host monthly events for 2019.
