Day 2 Report on Zone 4.2 Chess Championship
The Egyptians continue to dominate the Zone 4.2 Chess Championship going on in Shaza Beach Hotel in Mombasa.
At the top with a perfect 3/3 is GM Ahmed Adly of Egypt. His compatriot GM Hesham Abdelrahman also has 3 points together with IM Arthur Ssegwanyi of Uganda.
GM Adly won both his games of the day. He defeated Mehul Gohil of Kenya in round 2 and FM Haruna Nsubuga of Uganda in round 3.

Team Kenya
Kenya has six players in the event. Peter Gilruth, Mehul Gohil, Matthew Kanegeni, Vasanth Ramesh, Elvis Likoko and Yousuf Abdi Mahdi.
Matthew Kanegeni lost to Mahamed Omer Yousuf of Djibouti in round 2.
Matthew Kanegeni then drew his round 3 game against fellow Kenyan Elvis Likoko in round 4.
Peter Gilruth lost two vital games in round 2 and 3. In round 3 he lost to James Panchol of South Sudan and then to Aballa Abdelazeez of Sudan.
Mehul Gohil of Kenya had a tough outing when he faced the formidable GM Ahmed Adly in round 3. GM Adly is a former World Junior Chess Champion, and he quickly overcame Kenya’s 4th ranked player.

Mehul Gohil then drew his against compatriot Vasanth Ramesh in round 3.

Alaa Moaataz of Egypt is standing at the top at the end of round 3 with 3 points.
Gloria Jumba is lying in second place with 2 points. WCM Joyce Nyaruai is placed 4th with 2 points. Sasha Mongeli is in 8th position with 1.5 points.
