Nairobi Academy Junior Chess Championship

Nairobi Academy hosted the second edition of it’s popular Junior Chess Tournament. MiniChess Kenya organised the event which took place on the 8th of June 2019 in conjunction with Nairobi Academy.

The tournament attracted just over 180 junior chess players from over 20 schools and chess clubs. The players battled it out in the 6 round tournament with a time control of 25 minutes per player per round.

The event ran according to the following age categories U8, U10, U12, U14 and U18. The top three boys and the top three girls in each group received prizes and medals.

The winners in each category were as follows:

Under 8 boys

1. Muhindi Mwai Ryan (6 points) Seedlings Junior School.
2. Mtimet Yazid (5 points) Terrain Chess Academy.
3. Khyle Shah (5 points) Tritonite Stars.

Under 8 Girls

1. Mckenzie Chanel (5 points) Banda School.
2. Omondi Anna Zighe (4 points) King’s International School.
3. Gitau Wamaitha (4 points) Thika Road Christian School .

Under 10 Boys

1. Drish Rakesh Shah (6 points) Tritonite Stars.

Under 10 Girls

Under 12 Boys
