FM Harold Wanyama of Uganda won the inaugural Kisumu Dala Chess Championship last weekend. He cruised to a comfortable win with 5.5 points out of 6 rounds. The winner walked home with a cash prize of KES 20,000 (USD 200).

Andrew Mumia & CM Ben Magana were in joint second with 5 points each. They shared equally a cash prize fund of KES 25,000.
Steve Okeyo & Samuel Were of Uganda were in joint third with 4.5 points. They shared equally a cash prize of KES 7,500.

WCM Joyce Nyaruai was the best lady with 3.5 points. She won a cash prize of KES 5,000. WCM Sasha Mongeli was the second best-placed lady, and she went home with a cash prize of KES 2,500.
Jeff Onyango and Nicholas Orando were the best placed unrated players.

The event attracted 32 players, including six players from Uganda. It gave players in the region a fantastic chance to participate in a FIDE rated event.
Terrian Chess Academy & Winnie Thitu were the joint organisers of this FIDE rated event.
