GM Amin Bassem shines in China

GM Amin Bassem of Egypt did Africa proud once again.

He ended up in joint 2nd position at the recently concluded 2019 Belt and Road China Hunan International Chess Open GM Amin Bassem tied with GM Yu Yangi of China with 6.5 points out of 9 rounds.

GM Surya Ganguly of India was the winner with 7 points.

The event had three separate sections with the top A Section having a total of 72 players from federations. The average rating was a massive 2537.

Tongguanyao town, Changsha city, Hunan Province China was the host city of this prestigious event.

The dates were from 28th July (arrival) to 7th August (departure2019.

The A Section had a total cash prize fund of USD 170,200. The winner went home with USD 50,000!

The B Section had a total cash prize fund of USD 48,900 and the C Section USD 22,250.

With a total prize fund of just over USD 240,000, this was one of the most lucrative events of the year.

This is an exciting game from the event between GM Bassem and GM Ganguly in round 6.
