    CM Ben Magana crowned Kenya Blitz King

    CM Ben Magana crowned Kenya Blitz King

    CM Ben Magana last weekend won the Kenya National Blitz Chess Championship. He scored an impressive 11 points out of 12 rounds in this hotly contested event which had just over 110 players.

    CM Ben Magana was held to an unexpected draw by Mercy Igando in round 2.  Mehul Gohil also snatched a draw against CM Magana in their round 9 encounter. CM Magana who plays for KCB Chess Club took home KES 10,000 (USD 100) as the first prize.

    Ben Nguku also of KCB Chess Club was runners up with 10.5 points, and he went home with KES 7,500. Mehul Gohil grabbed the third slot with a credible 9.5 points and earned a cash prize of KES 5,000.

    Shafat Abdi Nasir who won the Kenya National Rapid Chess Chess Championship a day earlier obtained 8.5 points to end up in joint 5th place.

    WCM Joyce Nyaruai won the Ladies title with a respectable 7.5 points out of 12 rounds. Her cash prize was KES 4,000
