King Salman World Rapid & Blitz Championships 2019
FIDE has released details of the 2019 King Salman World Rapid & Blitz Championships.

Sela Sport Company Limited who act for the General Sports Authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) are the owners of the rights to the World Rapid & Blitz Championships. They have a three-year contract with FIDE for the period 2017 to 2019.
Moscow will be the host city for this year’s edition. The event will run from 25th to 30th of December 2019.
Tournament schedule:
Opening Ceremony – 25th December 2019.
Rapid competition – 26th to 28th December 2019.
Blitz competition – 29th to 30th December 2019.
FIDE is proud to note that the parties have secured a prize fund of 1 million US dollars for this event. The organiser will provide full board accommodation in a standard room (4-star hotel minimum), from 25th to 31st December 2019, to the players who meet the following criteria:
Open competition
Players rated at least 2750 in any of the FIDE rating lists (Standard, Rapid or Blitz) from 1st January to 31st December 2019.
Women’s competition
Players rated at least 2500 in any of the FIDE rating lists (Standard, Rapid or Blitz) from 1st January to 31st December 2019.
Players from Africa
Africa had four players taking part in the 2018 edition. These included;
GM Adly Ahmed (2630) & GM Bassem Amin (2630) both from Egypt.
IM Mohamed Tissir (2417) from Morocco.
Ahmed Hassan Abdillahi (1570) from Djibouti.
