2020 Kenya National Youth & Cadets Chess Championship
The 2020 KNYCCC kicks off this weekend with high expectations!
KNYCCC is the abbreviated form for Kenya National Youth & Cadets Chess Championship. The first phase of the event is the regional one and then the finals which take place at Sheikh Khalifa School in Mombasa. The dates set for the Finals are 10th to 14th April 2020.

Each regional event will have somewhere between 150 to 400 players! Players with 2 points and above are then eligible to take part in Final event.
The 2018 edition had just over 900 players!
The finals of the 2019 edition was even bigger with just over 1,600 participants making it the most significant chess event in East Africa!
The event will select players to represent Kenya in various international and continental events.
Several regions have already announced the dates for the regional qualifiers. Nairobi and Kisumu region will commence this weekend.
Chess Kenya who are responsible for the event have released further essential details.

Age groups for the 2020 KNYCCC
The following are the FIDE chess age group categories for 2020 for both boys and girls:
1. Under 8 – players born on or after January 1, 2012.
2. Under 10 – players born on or after January 1, 2010.
3. Under 12 – players born on or after January 1, 2008.
4. Under 14 – players born on or after January 1, 2006.
5. Under 16 – players born on or after January 1, 2004.
6. Under 18 – players born on or after January 1, 2002.

Entry fee for 2020 KNYCCC
a) KES 2,000 CK membership for Public Schools (10) players.
b) KES 4,000 CK membership for Private Schools (10) players.
c) KES 600 per player CK membership Individual Kenya Citizen.
d) KES 2,400 per player Individual Non-Citizen Resident.
