I guess no story on St Patrick’s Iten can ever be complete without mentioning why it is a world-famous school. Several of Kenya’s best runners have come from this Catholic School located in the small town of Iten. Some of the well-known athletes are;

  • Matthew Birir (1992 Olympic Gold 3000 m steeplechase).
  • Wilson Boit Kipketer (2000 Olympic Gold 3000 m steeplechase).
  • Peter Rono (1998 Olympic Gold 1500 m).
  • David Rudisha (2012 Olympic Gold 800 m).

St. Patrick’s Iten also hosted the 2016 Kenya National Youth Championship – Rift Valley.
