The Peponi School Junior Chess Tournament (2nd edition)

The Peponi School Junior Chess Tournament (2nd edition) took place on 15th of February 2020 at Peponi School in Ruiru.  Mini-Chess Kenya, in conjunction with Peponi School, were the organisers of the event. The tournament had an Elite Section (FIDE Rated) and the Main Section which attracted a total of just over 200 players from ten schools and chess clubs.

The Elite Section had four rounds with a time control of 60 minutes per player per round. The Main section had six rounds with a time control of 25 minutes per player per round.

The Main section categories were U8, U10, U12 and U18 with medals and trophies for the top three boys and to the top three girls in each group.

Prize winners

The top three best schools/clubs also received trophies. These were:

i. St. Peters Juja.
ii. Seedlings Junior School.
iii. Syokimau Chess Club.

Odongo Lwanga – 3.5 points.
