Mehul Gohil aka ‘Gorilla’ wins The Ultimate Terrian Chess Challenge
Mehul Gohil aka ‘Gorilla‘ retained his bragging rights after winning The Ultimate Terrian Chess Challenge last month against the formidable Ben Nguku Namale.
The event was a four rounds classical event, followed by four blitz games in the case of a tie. It took place on 19th and 20th December 2020.

The classical section ended in a draw with each player winning one and drawing the other game. Mehul Gohil aka ‘Gorilla’ lost in round one but recovered in round two. The player then drew Game 3 and 4.
Mehul Gohil later triumphed in the blitz section with 2.5-1.5.
Mehul Gohil v Ben Nguku Namale – Game 1
Game 1 was perhaps the most thrilling one to watch. Mehul Gohil aka ‘Gorilla’ built up a superior position only to blow it all away during the game. Ben Nguku was to later spin a beautiful mating web with his Rook, Bishop and Knight.

The Terrian Invitational Rapid Challenge
Terrian Chess Africa has two attractive events coming up in March 2021. The Terrian Invitational Rapid Challenge will see the top 12 players take part in a rapid speed chess event. A separate section for ladies will take place at the same time.
