South Sudan Olympiad Qualifiers

The 2022 South Sudan Olympiad Qualifiers has commenced the selection process for the 2022 Chess Olympiad.

One hundred twenty-six hopefuls are taking part in the first phase, selecting the top 40 players to enter the second stage. The top twelve players from phase two will then play a round-robin event to choose the Olympiad team. The 6th player will be the team’s captain in an exciting development.

The first phase has a brutal schedule that spans eight straight days!

At the end of round 7, Gong Thon Gong leads the event with seven points. David Lluak Bol and David Mayol are in second and third place respectively with 6 points.

The 2021 South Sudan Chess Champion Manyok Chaderek has found the going tough and has only 5 points.
