64th Nairobi Chess Club Championship commences

The 64th Nairobi Chess Club Championship started on Friday, 19th August 2022, at the Braeburn School, Gitianga Road in Nairobi.

The Open section with 18 players commenced with defending Champion James Panchol, grabbing a quick and decisive victory against Willy Simons of the Chairman of Nairobi Chess Club in round one.

Rick Sang managed to over Chvoro Viacheslav while Ezekiel Masiko of Uganda dismissed Samuel Mwaniki in their round one encounters.

In round two, Zayan Zamir, on the other hand, defeated Brian Irungu, while James Panchol defeated Harmony Odhiambo.

Peter Gilruth, Aslam Adam from the United Kingdom, Noel Fumey of Togo, Rodgers Adai, Ben Nguku, and others provided sponsorship to the tune of 46,421. Braeburn School also provided the venue on a complimentary basis to promote the event.

The U1400 and U1600 commence on 20th August 2022, with each section having about 30 players.
