Zadock Nyakundi wins KYCA Rapids
Zadock Nyakundi won the KYCA Rapid Championship with a score of 6 points out of seven rounds last week.
Limbikani Chitundu also scored 6 points but had an inferior tie-break to end up in runners up position. He and Zadock Nyakundi equally share the cash prize of KES 12,000.
The rapid event of seven rounds saw just under 80 hopefuls battling it out over the weekend of 4th & 5th February 2023. The venue was the Kenya College of Accountancy.
To spice things up the organisers hosted a blitz event at the end of the second day with 70 participants. Joel Emojong of Uganda emerged the winner with 10 points out the 12 round contest to go home with KES 4,000.
Joseph Methu of KCB Chess Club was second with 9.5 points. He won a cash prize of KES 2,000.
