2024 Kenya National Junior Chess Championship
Hawi Kaloki and Zuri Kaloki, talented siblings, emerged as the proud winners of the 2024 Kenya National Junior Chess Championship in the Boys Section and Girls Section, respectively.
Hawi Kaloki achieved an outstanding score of 6 points out of six rounds, securing the championship title. Bradley Wathimba followed closely in second place with 5.5 points, competing against a total of 80 contestants.
Zuri Kaloki also performed excellently, scoring 6 points out of six rounds, which earned her the title of 2024 Kenya National Girls Chess Champion. Zena Ibrahim, Angel Kagambi, Shakira Shukri, Genevieve Maashao, and Ivy Nyambura each finished in a distant second place with 4.5 points.
The Girls Section featured 36 players.
As a reward for their remarkable accomplishments, both Hawi Kaloki and Zuri Kaloki will be sponsored to participate in the 2025 World Junior Chess Championship.
The tournament took place on October 26th and 27th, 2024, at the Luke Hotel in Nairobi.
