Playoffs – 2025 Kenya National Youth & Cadet Chess Championship
The Playoffs for the 2025 National Youth & Cadet Chess Championship kicked off after the gruelling 8-round finals, which ran from August 2nd to 4th at the Kitale Polytechnic in Kitale.
The top 11 players from each of the age groups played a round robin event with a 90-minute time control, which ran from 6th to 9th August 2025, after a one-day break from the Finals – 2025 National Youth & Cadet Chess Championship.
Players who had tied for first place then had to face each other in a second playoff comprising two ten-minute games, followed by two blitz games and if no winner was declared, then a final Armageddon game.
At stake were the opportunities to represent the county in the following three events scheduled for this year.
1. Africa Youth Chess Championship – Zimbabwe.
2. World Cadets Championship – Kazakhstan.
3. World Youth Chess Championship – Albania.
