2025 Victoria EA U21 Chess Championship Hawi Kaloki triumphs
The 2025 Victoria EA U21 Chess Championship ended this evening with Hawi Kaloki winning the Prestige Section with an impressive score of 7.5 points out of eight rounds. Hot on his heels were Rishit Ravat & Gichuga Mathenge with 6.5 points each. This section had a total of 70 participants.
Shakira Shukri won the Prestige Ladies Section with seven points out of eight rounds. Zena Ibrahim & Shirlyn Gathoni Onyango both scored 6.5 points to end up in joint second place. A total of 32 players participated in this hotly contested section.
Henry Wara Mudogo won the Elite Section with seven points, beating a field of 200 participants, while Elian Ella won the Elite Ladies Section with a perfect score of 8 points, out of a field of 95 players.
The event, hosted by the Victoria Chess Club, was the second edition, following the first one held in 2024. The symbolic first move was made by Anyang Nyong’o, the Governor of Kisumu County, confirming its status as a top sporting event.

Sections: Prestige, Prestige Ladies, Elite & Elite Ladies.
Entry fee KES 3,000 for the Prestige Section and KES 2,000 for the Elite Section.
