CTC Open Chess Tournament – Chaderek Manyok is victorious

The CTC Open Chess Tournament concluded last weekend with Chaderek Manyok of South Sudan and a top player from the PMadol Chess Club emerging victorious with 6.5 points out of 8 rounds.  It is interesting to note that Chaderek Manyok was also the winner of the 2025 Nakuru Open that ran over the weekend of 15th & 16th November 2025.

Madol Garang Panthou, another player from South Sudan, also scored 6.5 points but had a lower tie-break to take home the silver medal.  Both players shared the KES 55,000 cash prize equally.

Evergreen CM Ben Magana of KCB Chess Club was third with six points.

The Open Section saw a total of 108 participants in action.   The CTC Open Chess Tournament was the final event in the Grand-Prix Circuit to earn points to qualify for the 2025 Kenya National Chess Championship set for December 2025.

A further 310 players took part in the Junior Section, which included U6, U10, U12, U14, and U18 age groups.

The event featured a substantial prize fund of KES 200,000 (USD 1,500).
