2026 Kiambu Open – Dr Victor Nga’ni emerges victorious
The 2026 Kiambu Open ended last weekend with Dr Victor Nga’ni beating a strong field of 80 players to emerge victorious with 5.5 points out of six rounds and win KES 40,000. FM Peter Majur Manyang of South Sudan was second with 5 points and went home with KES 20,000.

Ladies Section
Glenda Madelta, on the other hand, won the Ladies Section with 5.5 points and won KES 30,000 for her efforts. WCM Bella Nashipae and WFM Joyce Nyaruai finished with five points each, sharing the KES 25,000 cash prize.
The Ladies Section saw a total of 32 players.

Junior Section
Eli Osidiana of Mavens Chess Club won the Junior Section with 5.5 points, beating a field of 56 participants.
The Open and Ladies Sections of the event were part of the 2026 Kenya Grand Prix Circuit to select players for the 2026 Kenya National Championship, scheduled for December this year. The Kiambu County Association were the organisers of the event.
