Satranji Africa Grand Prix Chess Tournament

The Satranji Africa Grand Prix, held over the 18th & 19th April weekend at the USIU Africa Campus, Thika Road, saw seven players tie for first place with 5 points, with Hugh Misiko recognised as the Champion and trophy winner..

The other players who finished with five points were FM Peter MajurJames Panchol Madol, CM Garang Panthou Madol, Chaderek Manyok, Lenny Mataiga, and Mehul Gohil.
The tournament was widely praised for setting new standards of comfort and quality for both players and parents, attracting over 90 participants in the Open Section.
In the final round, FM Peter Majur and James Panchol agreed to what appeared to be a prearranged draw after fewer than ten moves in an unusual sequence. As a result, both players were penalised and received zero points for their actions.
