    2026 Zone 4.4 Individual Championship

    The 2026 Zone 4.4 Individual Championship, held from 20th to 25th July 2026 at the Harmony Hotel, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, was a great success for Kenya.
    WFM Sasha Mongeli clinched the gold with six points out of seven rounds, earning USD 1,000, while her compatriot WFM Joyce Nyaruai secured the silver medal with 5.5 points and received USD 400.
    Selemawit Sileshi Mekonnen of Ethiopia took the bronze medal in a field of 14 participants representing Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, and Mauritius.

    IM Milanto Harifidy Ralison of Madagascar won gold with 6.5 points from eight rounds, taking home USD 1,500.
    FM Patrick Kawuma of Uganda claimed silver with six points, earning USD 1,000, while Heritiana Andrianiaina of Madagascar took the bronze.
    Jadon Simiyu, the 2025 Kenya National Champion, narrowly missed a podium finish, scoring 5.5 points to rank fourth overall.
    The Open Section featured 24 players from Djibouti, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Somalia, and Uganda.
